Campus Parking

The Titan Information Center, also known simply as "Parking and ID," is located on the first floor of the Student Center, adjacent to the Dean of Students Office. The center serves as an information hub and welcome center for students, colleagues and visitors to the Student Center.

STEP 1  

  • Go to my.udmercy.edu in your web browser
  • Select Parking Permits listed under Quick Links

For current students and employees, please type in your vehicle information and add your permit number for the new system. 

If you are a new student or new employee the link is designed for you to add your vehicle information to obtain a parking permit.  

STEP 2 

You may proceed to the Titan Information Center to pick up your Parking Permit Tag.  The Office is now taking walk-in visitors from 10:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday.  Please know your T number and bring a State ID Card or Passport for identification.


Please note:

  • In order to park on campus, you must have a valid Parking Permit.   
  • If you do not have a valid Parking Permit, you will receive a ticket from Public Safety.   

The permit must be visible in your vehicle. The permit should appear on your rear-view mirror or on the dashboard of the driver’s side of the car.

    Vehicle Registration

    • The University is not responsible for any theft or damage while your vehicle is on the University of Detroit Mercy premises.
    • If your parking permit is stolen on campus, in order to obtain a replacement permit at no-charge, you must have a copy of the Department of Public Safety or police report.
    • The University requires current registration of any vehicle that is owned or operated by a student, faculty, staff member or visitor when such a vehicle is parked on any property owned by University of Detroit Mercy.
    • Motor vehicles parked on University-owned or leased property must be registered with the appropriate state or government agency and display that current license plate. If this is missing, the vehicle will be listed as abandoned and may be towed within 48 hours at the owner's expense.
    • Registration of a vehicle is complete only after the Detroit Mercy parking permit is properly obtained and displayed.
    • Replacement permits will cost $25.
    • If you leave the University and lose your parking permit then return to the University within two years, you will be responsible for the $25 replacement fee.
    • If you are in need of a temporary disabled parking permit, contact the Department of Public Safety at 313-993-1234 or visit their office located on the east end of the Student Center Building.

    Obtaining a parking permit

    Students

    New students shall register their vehicle in my.udmercy.edu within the first 10 business days of the semester for which they are enrolled. The hanging permit is transferable to all vehicles driven by you. If you are found in possession of a faculty/staff parking permit, you are subject to possible student code of conduct violations.

    Please refer to your current state vehicle registration form to complete the vehicle information online.  All current students will be sent a link by email to sign up for a time slot to pick up their updated parking stickers.

    Faculty/Staff

    All employees shall register their vehicle in my.udmercy.edu within the first 10 business days of the semester.  University employees purchase parking permits via payroll deduction for full-time faculty on the 20 pay cycle and the charge is $7.80; part-time employees on the biweekly pay cycle is $3; for all other employees, the charge is $6. Paying this fee does not guarantee finding a parking spot when and where you want to park. The hanging permit is transferable to all vehicles driven by you.

    Permit location

    1. Permits must be visible from outside the vehicle.
    2. Daily permits shall be placed inside on the driver's side of the windshield.
    3. Hanging permits should be hung from the rear view mirror inside the driver's compartment only while parked. Remove the permit before driving as it can be cause for an "obstructed view" moving violation.
    4. The University is not responsible for any damage that occurs (e.g. exposure to the sun) to a permit left hanging in a vehicle while not parked on University property.

    Parking regulations

    1. All motor vehicles must be operated and equipped in accordance with the provision of the traffic laws as written in the Michigan Penal Code and Ordinance of the City of Detroit.
    2. Vehicles shall be permitted to park in designated parking areas only.
    3. All vehicles will observe the posted speed limits and will come to a full stop at all stop signs and crosswalks. In the absence of posted speed limit, the speed shall not exceed 15 miles per hour.
    4. All motor vehicle accidents on campus should be reported immediately to the Public Safety Department for investigation.
    5. Owners of motor vehicles are requested to remove vehicles from campus during vacation periods unless their vehicle is properly registered and displaying a current permit. Otherwise the vehicle may be towed at the owner's expense.
    6. Loading and unloading zones and driveways are restricted to vehicles that have loading and unloading permits, maintenance vehicles and emergency vehicles.
